Santoña
An unparalleled natural environment
The surroundigns of our rural house in Santoña

Santoña is a town deeply connected to the sea, with centuries of fishing history that can still be felt in every corner. In its streets you can find traditional markets, like the food market, and the fish auction where fresh fish is sold. The famous Santoña anchovies, crafted by hand, are a symbol of internationally recognized quality.
Eating in the area is always a good choice, with seafood taverns and restaurants offering top-quality local products and recipes that combine tradition and innovation. For the more curious, there are also museums and guided tours that showcase the history of fishing and the art of preservation.

From our accommodation you can contemplate the majestic Natural Park of the Santoña, Victoria and Joyel Marshes, one of the most important wetlands in northern Spain. The area is full of green routes ideal for hiking and bird watching, such as the climb to Monte Buciero or the trail leading to the emblematic Caballo Lighthouse.
The coast also offers wide beaches like Berria, perfect for swimming or walking, and more sheltered coves like San Martín, where tranquility reigns. The cliffs offer spectacular viewpoints to watch the sunset over the Cantabrian Sea.
